Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-08-07

  • Although they always confiscate mine at the border, apparently Michele Obama gets to take her Jamon Serrano back home to the US. #
  • The Obamas didn't take us up on our offer of "One Free Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Class" tonight. Instead, they had dinner in the Marbella old town #
  • At the MRI, I was getting odd looks in the waiting room at the clearly too-short gown. The attendant arrived & said, "Where are the pants?" #
  • Had an MRI on my knee. They said "Don't move it!" Of course, that's all I could then think about, and I think it twitched like 50 times. #
  • Michelle Obama is now in Marbella, and I've not been invited to lunch, or anything else. #
  • An OSX desktop widget that shows sunrise/sunset times sells for $16. If it were an iOS app at that price, people would revolt. Why? #
  • I thought my 2.5" external USB drive was dying. Turns out the power connector on the USB hub it was connected to was slightly unplugged. #
  • People spend $29 on a WordPress theme, and then balk at $10 for an iPad *application*. #

  • Amazing grilled calamari. Oh, my! http://tweetphoto.com/35069674 #
  • What better way to start dinner in the Alpujarras after a long day of mountain biking. http://tweetphoto.com/35066699 #

  • Spending a few days in the amazingly charming Spanish Alpujarras, in the mountain town of Capileira. #

  • The iPhone 4's front facing camera makes taking a photo of oneself in public feel a bit less stupid. #
  • The Germans know that a single queue has an average wait time less than multiple queues. Why can't the Spanish figure that out? #
  • This German hotel breakfast room is eerily quiet. The people do appear to be talking, but there's no sound. #
  • Homemade semmelknödel with pfefferling (?) mushroom sauce at Bei d'r Tant in Köln, Germany. Nice! http://yfrog.com/mrr6ej #

  • Just imagining how interesting it'd be if the US had as much contrast between States as Europe has between countries. #
  • It's so quiet on this German train that my Spanish kids assume they need to whisper. #
  • A German train 25 minutes (no, not seconds — minutes!) late. What is the world coming to? #
  • Waiting with the bambinos (no, iPhone, not "baboons," though not far off, sometimes) for a train to Köln. #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-07-03

  • Lance Armstrong just beat Alberto Contador by 5 seconds in the Tour de France prologue stage. Gonna be an exciting Tour! #
  • Contador walks out, barefoot, in a haze, wearing a white tux, and does a heart double-tap with some Sidi cycling shoes — Worst. Ad. Ever. #
  • Do @drobo outsource their support? I’m getting insanely incompetent support in solving my problem. (Drobo causes OS 10.6.4 kernel panics.) #
  • iTunes has lost track of my download history. My Macs and AppleTV are downloading already-seen/downloaded videos. #
  • I wouldn’t mind if the iPhone had an option to beep at me (or something) when the battery starts getting low. #
  • Purchased: DropDMG 3.0. Congrats to Michael Tsai (@mjtsai) on this major upgrade to a very useful OS X tool (one I’ve been using for years.) #
  • Catalunya just passed a law requiring 50% of all movies to be translated to Catalan. Geniuses. They should perhaps study Scandinavia. #

  • .@scormier Awesome, thanks! in reply to scormier #
  • My new WD Passport 1TB drive comes with an auto-mounting "Virtual CD" that you simply can't get rid of. http://tweetphoto.com/29076154 #
  • Needing to send an invoice reminder in @PayPal, I'd hoped to find that on the "Request Money" screen. No such luck. #
  • iCal sync'd devices in proximity of each other should agree on which *one* is going to alarm. No less than three devices just chirped at me. #
  • "Pepe" has *fixed* our refrigerator 7 times in the past 3 weeks. I told wife 3 weeks ago, we should just buy a new one. Women r from Venus. #

  • In celebration of the event, Lidl has beers from the World Cup team countries. I'm enjoying a Brazilian "Brahma" right now. #

  • ★ Startup disk recovery and repair — lessons learned. http://bit.ly/9k5rEB #
  • Startup SSD drive got "invalid node" corruption that Disk Utility nor Drive Genius could repair. DiskWarrior took *forever*, but fixed it. #
